The buzz words for venture capitalists used to be emerging technologies, now disruptive technologies and socially conscious technologies are fashionable. My general impression of the IBF Conference on Venture Capital and Disruptive Technologies was there are no real surprises in the viewpoint of the venture capitalists. VCs think there are plenty of opportunities for start-ups to exploit disruptive technologies to build a new company.
The question of how to bootstrap a company is on most entrepreneurs’ minds these days. Attend any meeting of the investment community, angels or venture capital, and you’ll hear how entrepreneurs should focus on bootstrapping their companies and not approach the investment community for funding until they have a proven product.
